Nantucket Senior Portraits Near Surfside Beach

Nantucket is one of the best places for senior photos, especially in the summer when the island is full of warm light, lush gardens, and beautiful beach landscapes. This Nantucket senior portrait session featured a young woman visiting Nantucket for the season, and we photographed her portraits at a private residence before heading to a quiet stretch of beach near Surfside.

Senior Portraits at a Private Nantucket Residence

We began the session at a private residence surrounded by vibrant summer gardens. The greenery and seasonal flowers created a soft, elevated backdrop that felt classic and natural.

Private residences are a beautiful option for Nantucket senior portraits because they offer privacy, flattering light, and an easy place to start the session before heading to the beach. Photographing in gardens also adds depth to the final gallery and creates a more complete storytelling feel.

Walking Through the Dunes on Nantucket’s South Shore

After the garden portraits, we walked through the dunes along a sandy path leading toward the south shore. Dune landscapes are one of my favorite settings for Nantucket beach senior photos because the textures feel simple and coastal while still being dramatic and timeless.

This part of the session felt relaxed and effortless. The walk gave us natural movement and candid moments while still capturing portraits that felt polished and intentional.

Golden Hour Beach Senior Portraits Near Surfside

We finished the session on a quieter section of beach near Surfside Beach just as the sun began to set. The golden hour light was soft and warm, creating the perfect atmosphere for classic Nantucket summer senior portraits.

The south shore beaches are especially beautiful in the evening, with wide open sand, gentle dunes, and a clean horizon that gives portraits a refined, editorial feel. This location also felt more private, which allowed the session to stay calm and comfortable.
